City Bones

Clary a 16 year old girl who has the best friend Simon, a down to earth artist mom, and Luke a family friend who has been like Clary’s father figure since her father died before she was born. Clary lived a basic life until one of her adventures to Pandemonium a club with Simon Clary witnesses a teen boy being murdered by 3 teens. After that day Clary’s life gets twisted and pulled she doesn't  know what to believe and what is the truth!
I have to say thank you to Cassandra Claire for a big bang start to the book. The book that just kept giving! She described the characters so well that helped me visualize them in depth as the book went on. I have to agree with the reviewers that said City of Bones is almost like Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the TV series). I also liked that my favourite fantasy characters were all added into one bundle of joy such as; Vamps, Weres, Pixies, etc... Even though there weren’t any Edwards, Eriks, or Dimitri’s there was Jace!! Why is it that someone so rude, inconsiderate, and full of them selves are so hot, charming, and mysterious? In this book there are a lot of twist and turns and also a lot of action. For example this book is not only based on one major fighting scene that it takes the whole book to read to get it. There is never a dull moment its action after action after action!!! I think every book should have a Romeo and Juliet love story (other then the fact that they die!). The love story in this book is great it’s also very unpredictable except we all are expecting the unexpected (because from previous experience we know something is up.) Sometimes don’t you wish the love story stayed happy, but then I remember that there would be no story if there weren’t tragic endings. Anyways… Clary, Clary, Clary why are you so indecisive? Why do all books make us girls, women, ladies all seem indecisive and major heart breakers (I have to admit I can sometime be indecisive but to a certain extent NOT TO THIS POINT..COUGH..CLARY.. COUGH) but would you buy a book with no story and drama. We just have to remind ourselves it can’t always be blue skies, candy drops, and flowers!
Onto bad guys why is it that every time I read more young adult fictions the evil villain just gets worse and worse, or at least they get crueller. Well this one is just plain cruel even if we still do not know what he’s trying to achieve. By the way you will notice I hate the “Unknown” it drives me mad!!! For warning you guys.
This book was recommended to me by my godmother and I doubted the book until I actually purchased it on sale at a local book seller. I gave it a try and know I’m so hooked! I can not wait to read City of Ashes.

I’d personally rate this book  ïïïïï

I Kissed a Zombie, and I Liked it

Algonquin "Ali" Rhodes, the high school newspaper's music critic, meets an intriguing singer, Doug, while reviewing a gig. He's a weird-looking guy-goth, but he seems sincere about it, like maybe he was into it back before it was cool. She introduces herself after the set, asking if he lives in Cornersville, and he replies, in his slow, quiet murmur, "Well, I don't really live there, exactly. . . ."
When Ali and Doug start dating, Ali is falling so hard she doesn't notice a few odd signs: he never changes clothes, his head is a funny shape, and he says practically nothing out loud. Finally Marie, the school paper's fashion editor, points out the obvious: Doug isn't just a really sincere goth. He's a zombie. Horrified that her feelings could have allowed her to overlook such a flaw, Ali breaks up with Doug, but learns that zombies are awfully hard to get rid of-at the same time she learns that vampires, a group as tightly-knit as the mafia, don't think much of music critics who make fun of vampires in reviews. . . .

The girl with many names such as: Ali, Gonk, Algonquin, and Alley, etc... Well this is my first Adam Selzer book; as well it is also one of my first Zombie books. Yay me! So back to the book well Gonk (it's my favourite out of all the names) is a cool character she's not what you call popular, but she has all the makings of it. These personality traits consist of temperamental attitude, snobby remarks, care-free and this list goes on. Then again she has this side which she barely knows exist. We see the more caring personality of Gonks when she meets. Doug a Zombie with the beautiful voice who can hit the right notes. Doug brings out the soft considerate, and thinks before you speak Gonk. I don't know I could never picture a Zombie singing with a Leonard Cohen voice, but now I can. If I were to have crush on any of the guys I would have to say the cheesy popular Vampire's William and Fred. Mostly Fred do not get me wrong Doug has the makings of a hottie.
Anyway other than me speaking of the boys all the time, let me get back on track. The storyline was good could have had more details to it, but it was enough to get the point across. I would’ve liked the book to have some kind of present and past thing, get to know Doug’s past before his resurrection into Zombie-hood. I would have also gone into a bit of detail about the whole Megamart situation as well when the Vampires and Zombies came out. The reason for that is so we have enough background. That's a personal opinion by the way. The main characters were developed. I would have like to see a little more point of view other than mostly the vicious circle and William, Michelle, and Fred. Overall the book was good. Writing style overall was good as well. Good transition, overall a quick read, short and sweet with its funny moments.I loved the cover and title, also I also liked the typography used for chapter headers and title on main cover.
I liked it! J

I would personally rate this book: ïïï.5 (so 3.5 lol my stars do not come in half sizes, but I made an executive decision that this book deserved it!)
P.S. sorry for the verbal ranting of things I would change. Just a heads up everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

And with that Happy Reading everyone!

Burned Cover Released!

So today I was so surprised when I checked my email and there was a newsletter for The House of Night series. Me being super excited because I just love those newsletter it was the first thing I checked and what was in this email you may ask (if you have not received it). The cover to the for the 7th House of Night series "Burned" was released today. Also released was the description to the book which I have been dying to find out what might go on in the book. So sorry to keep you waiting here is all the info. Enjoy!!!

Things have turned black at the House of Night. Zoey Redbird’s soul has shattered. With everything she’s ever stood for falling apart, and a broken heart making her want to stay in the Otherworld forever, Zoey’s fading fast. It’s seeming more and more doubtful that she will be able pull herself back together in time to rejoin her friends and set the world to rights. As the only living person who can reach her, Stark must find a way to get to her.  But how?  He will have to die to do so, the Vampire High Council stipulates.  And then Zoey will give up for sure. There are only 7 days left…
Enter  BFF Stevie Rae.  She wants to help Z but she has massive problems of her own.  The rogue Red Fledglings are acting up, and this time not even Stevie Rae can protect them from the consequences.  Her kinda boyfriend, Dallas, is sweet but too nosy for his own good.  The truth is, Stevie Rae’s hiding a secret that might be the key to getting Zoey home but also threatens to explode her whole world.
In the middle of the whole mess is Aphrodite: ex-Fledgling, trust-fund baby, total hag from Hell (and proud of it).  She’s always been blessed (if you could call it that) with visions that can reveal the future, but now it seems Nyx has decided to speak through her with the goddess’s own voice, whether she wants it or not.  Aphrodite’s loyalty can swing a lot of different ways, but right now Zoey’s fate hangs in the balance.
Three girls… playing with fire… if they don’t watch out, everyone will get Burned.

So lets talk I love the cover, it's so eye catching. I probably like it better then the rest of the books, don't get me wrong they all eye catching! Let me know what you think. Friday Run

Friday Runs

So I adore all meme’s but I wanted one I could call my own so it got me thinking. I have a big imagination and sometimes its hard to control. So the idea started when I create my first Teaser Tuesday post, I adore that meme which was created by MizB at “Should be Reading Blog”!! When I was picking my teaser after writing it I started take that specific sentence and adding to it, but when I say adding to it I meant like adding to that storyline, even though I knew what came after the sentence I kind of as you can say gave it “an alternate ending” but it would be more like an alternate end to a paragraph. So hence then name I took one sentence and ran with it!! So I want everyone who wants to join to just leave a link and let me know what your Friday Run was you don’t have to post it on Friday but because of the name it would be best if you could.

Anyways here are the Instructions:

Like MizB’s Tuesday Teaser I would like you to pick one to two sentences on a random page of either the book you are currently reading or one you have just finished. So open you book let it fall to a random page and choose the sentence(s) that you would like but please, please I ask of you avoid spoilers or anything that might ruin to book for others. When choosing this sentence(s) make sure you can add to them. Another thing use the characters in the so call book. Even if they are not stated in the specific sentence. Ok so when writing your “Run” add one or two sentences, don’t go overboard as this is someone’s book already. Second last thing add the sentence(s) you want bold and quote them as well add the authors name and book title and page number of the sentence(s). Third thing have fun with it.

Again please do not take advantage as this is someone else’s hard work just play with the sentences and do not change theres.

Thanks and hope you all join in
